WELCOME TO 7A 2011
Welcome back to your final year of primary schooling.
This term the goal for my classroom is for all to come together as a community and feel comfortable working together. Our classroom environment is one of action, participation and hands-on involvement. The emphasis will be on trying your best and taking risks within a safe and nurturing environment to ensure all feel free to become all that they can be.
These will be achieved through the curriculum that is planned for the term. The class will focus on the following units
- People, Power and Politics – Students will investigate and explain the principals of Australian Representative Democracy and explain the principles, structures, roles, responsibilities and decision making process of the Australian Federal Parliament. Children will understand why legislative bodies- parliaments- play a fundamental role in maintaining peace and order in a democratic society.. how parliaments operate and by what authority.. the work of parliamentary representative. .how governing power and responsibility is shared…how differences of opinion are resolved… how changes to proposed legislation are made ..and the right to demand and expect good governance.
- Leadership, Images of God, Lent – Students will to grow in their knowledge and understanding of God, explore images of God presented in the scriptures, appreciate the influence of culture in forming images of God and develop further their own image of God.
- History- Students will delve into “What is History” as part of the new Australian Curriculum
- Science— Students will focus on Natural and Processed Materials in a unit titled “Change Detectives”
